Somewhere out there, a woman has decided to break up with her partner. It’s not that he isn’t wonderful — it’s that she senses him drifting, getting bored, moving on. Maybe he’s already seeing someone else; he seems happier than ever, just not necessarily with her. Better to end it now, she tells herself, before he beats her to the punch.
Somewhere out there, a man is guarding his heart. His partner makes him so happy he can barely stand it. The thought of losing her one day — which feels inevitable — makes him pull back. He tells himself he needs to find joy that isn’t dependent on her, that he can’t afford to need her too much.
